MUSH! !
Get ready! Monday, March 5 at 9:00 all of Mallett school will begin mush-ing towards Nome. The Iditaread is a team focused event. Each dog sled team (or class) will be working together with their musher (teacher) to accomplish a goal...getting to Nome first!
Teams will advance along the trail checking in at all 26 checkpoints from Anchorage to Nome. Like the Iditarod, there will be mandatory rest periods for dog sled teams which means no team may advance along the trail. The more students read in school and at home, the faster the teams will move along the trail.
These pups (students) will need lots of encouragement, rest and healthy meals to keep up with the vigorous trail and unforeseen obstacles such as blizzards and whiteouts.
